Hey guys! Today Toroa came to Ruru to help us with shape geometry. We had to create a Christmas tree or a normal tree on a google drawing with them! My buddies were Koey and Armaahi. They helped me with what colours to pick and what to add. We decided to make a Christmas tree, a fireplace, a snowman. a house and snow! This was so much fun! Here it is :)

Camp moive!
Hey guys! For the past 4 weeks, Ruru has been trying to make their own movie about camp. In OCTOBER! We had to add in heaps of photos and videos but our movie could be over 2 minutes. During this time, I learnt how to add text, transitions and photos/videos in Wevideo. I think I presented my movie in a good way because I think I added in a variety or people. I found deleting premium clips the hardest because they were hard to find. The most interesting thing for me was seeing my final project. Lucky me! I have no questions about my learning. I think next time I could try work faster and add in more videos. Here is my movie!!

Shape Picture
Hey guys! This week for maths we have focused on Geometry. Our first task was to create a shape picture with shapes. We had to use all of the shapes Mrs Lee gave us. But my picture didn't have them all :(. Before we started gluing shapes onto our paper to create a picture, we had to plan. I decided to do a dog reindeer thing, a house and a tree for m picture. After we planned we started creating with colourful paper, scissors and pencils! At first this was fun but then is got harder because for me it was hard to get all of the shapes on my paper. I rate this math lesson a 4/5 :) Here is my work!

Camp recount
Hey guys! Last week Ruru went to Living Springs for camp! This is my recount about it. It is kind of like a diary, hope you enjoy!
October Wednesday 27 2021:
I woke up at 7:00AM to get ready and to go to living springs for school camp! We had to be at school ready to go on the bus at 8:30AM in the morning. I had my daypack on my back and my bag with all my clothes on the bus, I was ready! The drive was about 45 or 40 minutes to get there. I kept looking out the window to see where we were. I was sitting next to my mum on the bus. When we arrived at Governors Bay, we had a quick morning tea and then… a 3 hour walk to living springs! My legs felt like noodles and they were aching. I was scared they were going to fall off. The worst thing was most of the walk was up hill :(. There was lamb poop everywhere and it really stunk. The smell filled my nostrils and I started to get frustrated. I almost stepped in some poop :/. The noise of the adults laughing made me even more angry, I just wanted to get this over and done with. When we arrived at camp we had to RACE up a hill, sadly my legs couldn't go any longer so I just sat down then walked up. As soon as I reached the top, me and my friends layed on the floor trying to relax. Stupidly, we decided to roll down the hill. Jaydah and I had a collision :D. The first activity we did was orienteering. After that we had afternoon tea which was so gooooood. After eating we had recreation games. The first thing I went on was the zipline. Then...I went on..the monorail! My favourite activity! The walk up was simply horrible :(. I sat down and buckled myself in. WHOOSH! I was off. It felt like I was going to fly off and at the end I almost went backwards. But luckily I was buckled in safely..unlike Devon :/. After the recreation games we had our very first camp auction :). I spent 1265 camp dollars to be a judge for the upcoming camp concert :/ :). I didn't get much because the teachers couldn't hear me and people were spending thousands of dollars on 3 lollies. What a waste. When the auction ended it was dinner time! When dinner was over the camp concert started. My group went first. We danced to the song ¨35 Ka Hao¨. Then after we were scored by the judges ( All 10 :) ) I sat down and judged everyone else. After the concert we had..SWIMMING! It was very fun because me and my friends created a splash tag game with some boys. When we got out of the pool we went to our bunks to get dressed. Then I went to my bunk with my friends and we went to bed.
October Thursday 28 2021:
Me and my friends woke up at 6:37AM to have a shower and clean our bunk rooms and obviously get dressed. At 7:30AM breakfast was served :). I had weetbix with peaches and also toast with jam. We walked into Don's shed, a place in living springs. We had 4 activities to do in our 4 tribes. The first thing ym tribe did was the bouldering wall which was my 3rd favourite. Then my tribe had to do bush ecology which was boring but cool so I placed it in 4th place. Then we had initiatives which I placed 2nd coming VERY close to 1st. The challenges were hard but also fun! I think I won with an amazing team. We got through quite a bit. 1st place for me was low ropes! Mostly because I had Vern in my group and he was like a clumsy acrobat, I couldn't stop laughing! He went against Mrs Lee in one of the challenges and her face had me on the floor cracking up. Vern was swinging through like Tarzan singing Let It Go. When we got back to camp we had free time for about 15 minutes. I just watched people play basketball and I also played on the tramps. After that we had another camp auction and I bought nothing. Then we had dinner and once again went swimming. This time the splash game expanded and I was having the time of my life. It was fun to splash people. One of the adults even joined my team! I was lucky and had goggles so when someone splashed me it didn't hurt my eyes. After swimming we had one more auction, but only for people who have brought nothing and then a movie. We watched Sonic The Hedgehog. Before we went to bed my bunk wrote in our diaries and none of us couldn't stop laughing at Zoes jokes. Yawned
October Friday 29 2021:
Jaydah woke me and my bunk mates up at 6:00 to shower and get ready for the day. :/ . I packed my bag with all my clothes making sure I leave nothing behind. My ears jumped when I heard the whistle blow. I ran to the cafeteria to eat. I picked a table close to the food for me and my friends. Our backs shot up when we saw the teachers coming. We were the first people to get breakfast :). For breakfast I had 2 toasts and a hot chocolate which was full of chocolate flavour. I didn't want to leave. My thoughts were confusing and nervous. I felt my heart slowly beating. My bunk room and I ran onto our balcony and went on our last bush walk around our cabin. The wind kept pushing us further and further till we got to the trampolines. Jaydah got on the tramp with some boys and I just watched, staring at the bus. Since I couldn't do much on the trampolines I didn't really go on them. My body was standing up slowly walking away to see if anyone noticed. No one did so I just walked to the basketball court to shoot some hoops so I could practice for netball. The whistle blew again. It was almost time to go :(. But luckily it was just lunch time! We had cheesy pasta with a healthy salad and a smoothie. I washed down our table when we were down. Ofa was the only one that helped me. I ran to my friends to play truth or dare on the playground. My legs were starting to ache again. I guess that walk still hasn't worn off. I saw everybody playing games and having heaps of fun. The whistle blew. It was time to go. The teachers gave a speech about making sure we have everything and then awards were given out to the parent helpers that came along. Time to get on the bus! I sat at the front with Miss Ferguson. We played I Spy and got through a lot. The bus driver even played! When we got back I went home straight away and had the biggest cuddles.

Camp reading!
Hey guys! Welcome back to Term 4 :) This week since we are going to camp next week we have been focusing on camp stories and create tasks.
Create tasks!
The first create task was to get a map sheet from your teacher and use coordinates to place drawings where they are meant to be. We had to draw on about 3 things and then use our smart brains to do the rest.
The second create task was to create a bunk label for your bunk room at camp! Write your name in any font and colour it in! P.S Mrs Lee wrote my name which is why it is awesome. P.S again Jaydah drew on my name so its not as awesome :)
The last create task was to create a poster on Piktochart about anything native to NZ. We got to pick a topic. Animal, Plants, Habitat, Threats and more! Once we picked a topic we had to pick what we were going to read about ex. Pohutakawa would be in plants.
Stories
This week for reading since we are going to camp next week we have been focusing on camp stories and maps! There were 3 stories we had to read. The first story was called danger man and was about these 4 kids that were very naughty. One night they sneaked out and found a flying fox over a lake. One of the kids went on it but it broke and the others had to go save him. They got to him an funnily enough the water was thigh high :D. So they all laughed but then were caught.
The second story was called School Camp Fun. It was about a girl going on camp for the first time. Her dad came along to help. They did fun things like roasting marshmallows. Swimming and having hot chocolate.
The third and final story was called Bush walk. It was about a group of kids on a hike at camp with their teacher. One kid was slowing the group down and his shoelaces kept coming undone! The teacher slipped and cut open his head...ouch. Luckily the slow boy knew where they were because he payed attention!

The deep dark hole...
Hey guys! This week for writing we have been focusing on our senses! We had to describe the picture down below. I wont type in too much because I would love you to read my writing right now! Here it is :)
The Deep Dark Hole
The scent of the flowers combined with the colourful petals clear my mind. I always come here when I'm stressed. As I walk closer to an unfamiliar part of the garden, the scent of the flowers change to the smell of burnt pieces of bark and the flower petals go grey. Suddenly the ground beneath me vanishes. The next thing I know, I´m falling down a dark hole. I open my mouth to scream but stale air fills my mouth. I feel books bashing my body as I fall faster and faster. Small noises of books opening and closing rush past my ears.
The force of me falling is so strong I can hear the whooshing of the wind. As I fall the things above me and on land get smaller. A beam of light from above shines on the dusty books. My hair is tangling around my face. Cold wind fills my nose. My mouth opens to scream again and as I yelp an icy breeze fills my lungs. Confusion fills my brain but curiosity is wandering around my head as well.
I start to fall faster.¨AHHH!¨ The echoes of my scream fill the dark rabbit hole. Water drops fill my eyes and as I cry they.. float to the top? The smell of rotting wood flies around the hole. I´m feeling so petrified I can taste my own fear. This will definitely traumatise me for the rest of my life.

Chinese language week reading!
Hey guys! This week since it is Chinese language week our reading has been focusing on the Chinese language :). We didnt choose any books today but read about what the dragon symbolies in China, we read a book about a race between the animals to be first in the Chinese Zodiac calendar and we also read about the ledgend of the Chinese dragon. This was really fun to learn about and the tales are very interesting and cool! Thanks to this awesome week I learnt how the dragon was created and why. ( China tribes were fighting over their spirit which protected them. The kids were sick of it and together put body parts together to make a...DRAGON! ) . I learnt about the Chinese zodiacs and I also am learning how to spell my name in Chinese.

Vector Drawing Panda and Cow
Hey guys! This week in Ruru we were trying a new art technique. This task was on our Chromebooks. The task is called.... a Vector drawing! This is when you trace over a picture but your trace over the different lighting and make it a different colour to the rest. This may sound very complicated...and it is! But once you have done it a couple of times, it gets easier. I chose to trace around a panda in normal colours, and a cow in purple. Here is my work!

My Lockdown poetry and Anthology
Hey guys! As you all know, NZ is know in a lockdown because of Covid-19! Before we went into lockdown, for writing we were focusing on poetry and anthology. So now that we are in lockdown we are continuing with our poetry, BUT the theme for all of our poems can be based around either Covid or how we are doing and how our family is in lockdown. For a start we got to choose from a Haiku, ( a 3 lined poem, in the first line there are 5 syllables, 2nd line has 7 syllables and the last line has 5 ) or a tongue twister ( a poem with as much words starting with the same letter in your poem as possible, ex. She sells sea shells by the sea shore ).
I chose to start off with a Haiku, then I did my tongue twister. After I completed them I created a countdown poem! I will be adding in more poems as I finish my other tasks. I hope you enjoy my work!

Numicon Sequence
Hey guys! Welcome back to Term 3!!! On Monday for maths, we were given instructions to fill out the number rod track with a sequence! A sequence is like a pattern. For example:
4,8,12 etc.
The first sequence was increasing and the numbers were:
4, 8, 12, _, _, 24, 28, 32, _ and _.
The second sequence is decreasing and the numbers were:
54, 48, _, _, 30, 24, _, _, and 6.
The harder one in my opinion is the decreasing sequence! If you want to figure these out you must use a rule. In mathematical language, a rule is something that repeats itself.
For example, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10. You could also skip count or find the number in between 2 of your answers. Hope you enjoy my blog post and learn some sequencing!

Anne Frank!

Hey guys! We have been focusing on inspirational people. This week we were given the same book choices as last week. This week I chose to read about Anne Frank. I really enjoyed learning about Anne Frank and how she is informational. I think Anne Frank was very brave for what she did. She was Jewish and was alive during World War ll. You may know about Adolf Hitler and how he pretty much started World War ll. Anne Frank and her family were scared and fled the country to hide in Holland. She lived in a house, went to school and had friends! But then Hitler came to Holland. Anne Frank hid in a attic with the help of other people. She wrote in a diary about her feelings. NOW! Before I get carried away, my 1st create task explains the whole story. I give this book a 5/5! This was one of the most interesting journal I have ever read. How would you feel if you were there for World War ll?'

Private Or Personal Information
Hey guys! Today for Cybersmarts we have been learning about what we can and what we cant post on our blogs. The first thing we had to do was watch a video about Private and Personal information. Then we filled out a google drawing by dragging pictures onto 2 sides, Private or Personal. Then we had to write down explanations for why we put those pictures into the column.
I enjoyed learning about what we could and could not put onto our blogs and the tasks were fun! I found thinking about what could go where hard. For example, someone that we admire.

Batman's great day
Hey guys! This week for writing we have been focusing on compound sentences. Once we finished writing out 10 ( In my compound post ) we wrote about a photo we found on pobble. The photo was of Batman at a Bagels, Donuts and soup, shop. We could write it in any way we like. I decided to write how Batman got to the shop! I hope you enjoy and here is my work!:

One foggy Saturday afternoon, 1998, in Gotham City, Batman woke up to a BAM! He threw his bat suit on and covered his face with his black mask. He sprinted outside to see the Joker laughing his head off. The Joker was skipping around throwing TNT all over Batman's island. Batman grasped his grappling hook and chucked himself to Joker. Joker was not scared nor surprised, he was expecting this. They started to fight. Batman threw the first 6 punches and Joker took it well. Mr.J (joker) grabbed his bat and tried to hit Batman but he missed multiple times. Then out of nowhere..POW! Robin flew into the battle like a butterfly. He knocked Joker out with the back kick that Batman taught him. Batman looked at Robin and was surprised he remembered his training from 1992. Batman smiled. Robin went in for a hug but Batman walked away. “ Sorry Robin” Batman said, “ But I am hungry after that fight” and he wiped his mask as if he had sweat on it. But Robin knew he just didn’t want to hug him. Batman grappled away and arrived at Bagels, Donuts and Soup. He sat down like a princess and ordered some soup. He drank it carefully yet spilt it all over himself. THE END

Bush fires and Tornadoes!
Hey guys! Last week for Inquiry we got to go to different teacher for, Natural Disaster info reports! My reports are about, Bush fires and Tornadoes! I have never seen nor been in a tornado or a bush fire. But if I was I would be terrified! I enjoyed learning about how bush fires and tornadoes are formed. Have you ever seen a tornado in action before? Tornadoes can be one of the most powerful forces in nature and can last up to 17 hours!
How do tornadoes form? Underneath big thunderstorms, when dry cold air and warm wet air meet, the heavier and colder air pushes under the warm air and forces the warm air into the thunderstorm. All this fast moving air starts to spiral. Then a tornado is formed.
How do tornadoes look? They start up high in thunderstorms and connect all the way to the ground. They are also foggy and grey. They spin up to 500 km per hour but move 50 km per hour.
Did you know that there are different tornadoes. Supercell is one of the strongest. A long large tornado that is very violent. Waterspout, a tornado that forms over water and when at ground it disappears. Landspout, like a waterspout but on land. It is weak and is not associated with a thunderstorm. Gustnado, a small tornado formed at a weather front.
Now that you have read this information report, you know how tornadoes are formed, what they look like and some different types of tornadoes. Fun fact, did you know that tornadoes are stronger than hurricanes!

Avalanche!
Hey guys! This week for Inquiry we have been focusing on natural disasters! We got to pick which disaster to learn about. I chose to learn about Avalanches. The process was:
1. Complete the KW in the KWL chart. ( Know, What you want to know and what you Learn )
2. Watch the video and find 2 other texts for kids then fill out the L in the KWL chart.
3.Once you have added in all of your info onto the KWL chart pick a planning template then fill out the box with 4 or 3 facts. Dont forget the topic sentence!
4. Type out your info report with the information you have learnt.
5. Show a teacher and get a buddy to check your work. With the checklist!
6. Chose one of the DLO's from the site and then copy and paste your report onto your DLO.
7. Post!

What is a compound sentence?!?
Hey guys! In writing we have been learning about compound sentences. A compound sentence is two simple sentences combined with fanboys. To make a compound sentence you need:
A Noun: Name, place or object.
A Verb: A action word.
Fanboys:
F= For
A= And
N= Nor
B= But
O= Or
Y= Yet
S= So
Ofa helped me turn my simple sentences into compound sentences. Here is my work:
