Shape Picture

Hey guys! This week for maths we have focused on Geometry. Our first task was to create a shape picture with shapes. We had to use all of the shapes Mrs Lee gave us. But my picture didn't have them all :(.  Before we started gluing shapes onto our paper to create a picture, we had to plan. I decided to do a dog reindeer thing, a house and a tree for m picture. After we planned we started creating with colourful paper, scissors and pencils! At first this was fun but then is got harder because for me it was hard to get all of the shapes on my paper. I rate this math lesson a 4/5 :) Here is my work!

Lockdown maths pt 2! ? ( Subtraction standard form )

Hey guys! This week for maths, Ruru is focusing on subtraction using standard form with and without regrouping. In week 5 ( last week ) we focused on addition using standard form with and without regrouping. So  far I have just done my subtraction without regrouping and I did it on paper :). This was really fun and exciting to do. I got the hang of this in a couple of minutes then boom! It was easy! I hope you enjoy this and learn something new :D. I will add in the subtraction using regrouping when I am finished. Here it is...:
WALT: Use standard form to solve subtraction problems with no regrouping

Could you figure out the problems before you read the answers? If you did comment down below! I would love some feedback about anything on my work please! Thanks for reading my work :)

Lockdown Maths!

Hey guys! On the last day of school for maths we were focusing on standard form and regrouping. Now that we are in lockdown, for ,maths we just continued on our standard form but this time on our Chromebooks. Standard form is one of my favourite math strategies. We had to watch 2 videos explaining regrouping standard form. I hope you enjoy my work, and if you can, before you see my answers, can you answer the question yourself?

Do you like to use standard form? If you do, why do you like using standard form.
I would love any type of feedback or just correcting my wrong answered questions, but I think their all right.

Can you solve my puzzle?

Hey guys! This week for maths we have been focusing on patterns and algebra. We had 4 sheets to complete. Each sheet had numbers and blank boxes. The sheet gave us about 2 or 3 numbers to look at, then we had to fill in the blanks with the next pattern. For example: 14, 18, 22, __, __, __,. The answer would be: 14,18,22,26,30,34. Then once we figured out the pattern, we wrote down the rule, the rule for the example pattern was, Rule: Add 4. When we finished the 3 sheets, for the 4th we could create our own pattern. It could increase or decrease as much as you want. I made a pattern with 3 blank spaces. Do you think you can solve my pattern? If you do, give it a go, if you dont, still try! Then comment down below what you think the  answer is and the rule. Hope you enjoy my work and solve me pattern.
0.454, 0.577, _.___, 0.832, _.___, 1.069, 1.192, _.___

Did you solve my pattern?
The hardest part was probably finishing everything in time with quality.

Numicon Sequence

Hey guys! Welcome back to Term 3!!! On Monday for maths, we were given instructions to fill out the number rod track with a sequence! A sequence is like a pattern. For example:

4,8,12 etc.

The first sequence was increasing and the numbers were:

  4, 8, 12, _,  _, 24, 28, 32, _ and _.

The second sequence is decreasing and the numbers were:

  54, 48, _, _, 30, 24, _, _, and 6

The harder one in my opinion is the decreasing sequence! If you want to figure these out you must use a rule. In mathematical language, a rule is something that repeats itself.

For example, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10. You could also skip count or find the number in between 2 of your answers. Hope you enjoy my blog post and learn some sequencing!

WALT: Make a sequence of multiples.

Do you know if there are any other strategies I could of used? If you do comment them down below! I would love if you left me some feedback after you have seen my work. I hope you guys enjoyed and had a fun holiday.

My new strategy!

WALT:Solve Multiplication
WALT:Change the order of numbers to make the Multiplication easier!

Hello viewers,
Today and yesterday,I created a DLO (Digital Learning Object) on my new strategy. My new strategy is changing the order of numbers to make the multiplication easier. As you saw from the WALT.In my opinion this is a easy strategy to learn and will make maths a lot easier.I hope you enjoy and learn something new that YOU can do in maths.
ENJOY!!

Can you think of any other equations that you can switch around? If you can comment what equations you can switch around and if you learnt some new x tables!I HOPE you learnt something new and had fun reading my DLO. If you have any  questions comment what and I will help. (Make sure it's related to this!)I hope you enjoyed!
Have a nice day

A little more A little less

Hello readers,
Today and Thursday I have worked on my "A little More A little less" project.I had to show you guys my new Strategy I learnt this week. This week I learnt Compensation.Compensation is where you add some onto your number or, take some off.I hope you enjoy this and learn a new way to figure out maths Questions.
Enjoy

Do you have any other questions? If you do comment what you don't get and I will reply and tell you another example. Its okay if you don't get it, because like I said, it might be hard to learn but once you get it, you will be awesome at it.
Have a nice day

Taukapo (Maori Snap)

Hi Ruru
One task I had today was to play a game of cards so I did first with my mum and then with my brother Dayzharn. The game we played was one you have probably never heard of because last year when I was working with Mr Barrow before he left I was in a special maths group where we could earn gold badges. I chose to work for the cultural badge (maori) We had to do 12 activities to earn the badge one of the activities was to create a maths game so I made one called Taukapo with the help of my mum and my friend from last year Lita this is a video of us playing the game. After we played Taukapo my mum taught me how to play Pyramid next she is teaching me Clock Patience.
The rules It is a lot like snap. You have to know how to count in maori. 2 players you need a deck of cards. K=10,Q=10,J=10, A=1 You deal the whole deck out to all the players. At the same time the players place a card down and you have to add the numbers together for example a king and a 4 would be 14 but you have to say it in maori so you would say tekau ma wha. If the cards are the same for example a 9 and another 9 that would be 18 but remember you have to say it in maori so you would say tekau ma waru and then because they are the same cards you can slam your hand down ontop and shout TAUKAPO (snap) and you get all the cards on the pile. The winner of the game is the first one to win every card from the deck.I hope you understand and if you want to play but cant count in maori here is a guide. 1=Tahi,2=Rua,3=Toru,4=Wha,5=Rima,6=Ono,7=Whetu,8=Waru,9=Iwa,10=Tekau and then for any number higher than ten you would say ¨Tekau ma¨ and what number you need and lastly the number 20=Rua tekau.
