The Creation of Night and Day....

WALT: Analyse and evaluate the actions and story lines of Maori myths and ledgends

Hey guys! This week and last week, to celebrate Te Wiki O Te Reo Maori, for reading we have been focusing on Maori myths and legends. I chose the book, The creation of night and day. This book was about how the Maori think the world was created. Papatuanuku and Ranginui were lying on top of each other bringing darkness upon the world/them. Tāne Mahuta pushed them apart with his legs and brought light into the world. It was really interesting and was fun to learn about. I hope you enjoy my Maori work!

Create task 1:
Analyse your story. Who are the characters? Where was it set? What is the problem? What are some of the actions in your story? How did it end? How were the characters feeling?

Create task 2:
How do you feel about the decisions your character/s made? Give 3 reasons why you agree or disagree about this statement.

Create task 3:
Create a glossary for the Maori words in your book. Once you have done that, turn it into a animation and publish to your blog.

IS THAT A TANIWHA!!!

Hey guys! This week for reading I picked a book about a Taniwha in the school pipes! The characters were Mr Blackadder, Noah, Ms Pinkney and the little/baby Taniwha, it was set in a school and in the boiler room. The problem was a Taniwha in the school pipes! But then the solution was, Mr Blackadder, captures the Taniwha into a little jar full of black water. Or did he??? I am not sure if there is actually a Taniwha in the jar, 1 kid could not see the Taniwha in the water..so was it there? Create task 2 was to create a new ending for you book, then explain why you chose that ending. The third create task was to come up with 5 questions to ask Ash as if you were a police officer. Then we could post it on our blog! Which I am doing right now.

I hope you enjoy my work!
P.S Since I finished early I was told to to the feast finishers. Read a book and record yourself

Learning to weave Harekeke Puti Puti

Hello Viewers,
Today I made some Harekeke Puti Puti (Flax Flowers)This took me 14 Minuets to do a Flower.I made a flower in the bouquet it is the one in the front of the Harekeke. Three main things to remember:

  • Before you cut the Harekeke (Flax) you have to do a Karakia. (prayer)
  • You always cut the Harekeke (Flax) on a slant/diagonal.
  • It is important to cut from the outside not the middle.

If you want to make the Harekeke here are the steps:

Have you ever made a Harekeke Puti Puti?(Flax Flower)If you have comment if you found it easy or hard.If you haven't give it a go.Remember you need Harekeke. If you dont have any you can make it out of any bendable material. For example:Coloured paper,Paper, fabric and bendy plastic.
I hope you liked this if you did comment what you liked about it and please give me some feedback.
