Fishing False Teeth!!! SLJ

 Hey guys!
Welcome back to my blog. Today I was given my first SLJ task. We had to go onto Uru Manuka site, go on SLJ section. Click onto the task for today! This days task was to guess what you think the people in the video would say if they were in a movie. This is my first SLJ task since last year December. Now before we started typing up what they were saying, we had to think of how they were feeling, and how they would express that with words. I really hope you enjoy this comic!!!

Did you like my comic? If you did comment what you liked about it. If you found it sad or funny comment why. I hope you enjoyed this blog post and I will see you in my next one!

My Patterns!!!

 Hey guys!
Welcome back to my blog. Today during maths, my maths teacher Mrs Lee, gave us a fun task to do. She told us to create out own patterns! Now this might not sound maths related. but is actually is. We were told to do two different patterns, A symbol pattern and a Number pattern. A symbol pattern is with shapes and pictures, and number patterns is with..numbers! For example:
1,2,3,4,5 or 2,5,8,11. In the first number pattern I am adding 1 each time. In the second one I am adding 3 each time. Now, I did a easy symbol pattern and a medium number pattern. I did shaped for the symbols, and the Fibonacci sequence for the numbers. If you dont know what Im talking about, the Fibonacci sequence is a pattern that goes on forever, you are just adding the numbers together, in the end you will have a HUGE spiral if you use squares.ANYWAY here is my work!
Make sure you guess the pattern!

Did you guys get the patterns right? If you think you did comment what you think and I will reply to you yes no or 1=yes 2=no or 1=no 2=yes. I hope you enjoyed this blog post, and learnt something new.

First we write 15-20 questions on a google doc, the on a google slide or google form.Once you have done that decorate, then your done! Then once we finished the quiz we had to create a venn diagram about two animals. If you dont know hat a venn diagram is i will explain. I venn diagram are two circles overlapping each other. Like this : How to Create Blank Venn Diagrams | The Religion Teacher | Catholic Religious Education
Once you have done that in the left circle you write things only one of you animals have. In the right circle you do the same except with a different circle. But then in the middle you write what the two animals have in common! I hope you enjoy!

Giraffes!!!

 Hey guys!
Welcome back to my blog. This week in reading, we got to pick from more "National Geographic"! We were given 7 books and we had a choice to pick which book we got to read! I chose.... GIRAFFES! I barely knew anything about them except that they are the tallest animal in the world! So learning about them was really fun! Me and my BFF Sapphire helped each other with the tasks, so go check out what she has made! She deserves some credit! We had to do 3 create tasks. Answer questions and you got to pick the other two. I chose write a narrative about an encounter with a giraffe and, Giraffe physical features that help them survive!I hope you enjoy this, and hopefully you learn something new.ENJOY!
WALT:To understand what we are reading by answering questions about the text!

Encounter with a Giraffe.

Isla loves animals. She likes studying them and learning new things about them. Her favourite animal would have to be a Giraffe. She is always looking for them if she's in Africa, but she has never had an encounter with one. She has seen one from far away but her camera couldn't capture the shot.

One Sunday morning in Africa, Isla went to go take some photos of animals that were nearby. She saw 7 elephants, 28 zebras, 4 lions, 2 spotted hyenas and 5 ostriches. Luckily for her she got all of her photos clear and one of every animal! She was still disappointed she didn't see a giraffe.

That's when she heard a rustle in the trees. She turned her cheek and there stood a herd of giraffes. Isla was full of joy and excitement but she couldn't scream or they would be frightened away. “Ah, there we go,West African giraffe. Lucky to see em” the African guide whispered to Isla. Isla’s smile got bigger. “Can I go up close to one?” asked Isla. “Eh, you might as well, but be very quiet and slow and careful. They can hear ya know” replied the African guide. Isla’s grin got even bigger and she looked so happy the guide smiled! Isla slowly hopped out of the car. Her camera was in her hand ready to capture the shot. The giraffe looked above Isla but luckily she was too short. She was crawling on her knees. But then she saw a tight thick rope tied around the leg of the giraffe. Then she slowly turned her head. The giraffe was completely tied down. Isla’s smile was wiped right off her face. She got out her pocket knife. The giraffe moaned. *Slice. Krrrrrrrrr*. The ropes were off the legs of the giraffe. *Quick take the photo before it runs away* she thought. *CLICK* The photo was taken.

As soon as the giraffe heard the click, he or she ran away. Isla was full of delight. She ran back to the car. “Ye get any good photos?” asked the guide. Isla looked at her camera. “Yes, I did. It's..perfect” She whispered.

Do you know any other facts about giraffes. If you do comment what you know. If you knew nothing comment what you learnt.I would really like you feedback please!

Frogs!!!

 Hey guys!
Welcome back to my blog. This week in reading we have been reading National Geographic books! There were 6 books to chose from and I chose...... FROGS! I have always wanted to learn more about frogs and I did!Its was really fun seeing new facts about frogs. They are far more interesting than you think. In this blog post I am putting in 3 create tasks. One will be answering some questions about frogs, WITH full answers. The second will be a narrative about an encounter with a poisonous dart frog. Then my last task will be physical features in a dart frog that helps them survive.I hope you enjoy this post! WALT: To understand what we are reading by answering questions about a text!

The Poisonous Dart Frog...

 Character

Sapphire is a herpetologist. A herpetologist is someone who studies reptiles and amphibians. She has long golden hair and glimmering hazel eyes. She also has a button nose. She loves frogs and studying them.Sometimes she wishes she was a frog.
 Setting

On a boiling Saturday evening she went out to Colombia, South America. While she was there, she went into the woods which was right behind the small remote village she stayed at for three whole days. The trees were as thick and hard as bricks. The leaves are as light as feathers. Every time she stepped a stick would break.CREEK.She had to swim through a thick river to get to the other side. The farther she walked, the quieter the sounds got. Ribbet. Ribbet. Ribbet. She heard her favourite animal talking to her. A FROG! Sapphire started running towards the sound. Ribbet, Ribbet. The faster she ran the louder the frog got.
 Problem

Ribbet, Ribbet, Ribbet! Sapphire was sprinting with her camera in her hand and her water bottle in the other. She was getting worn out. She decided to stop and have a drink of cool, fresh ice cold water.Gulp,gulp,gulp,gulp,gulp.The croaking stopped. Sapphire was confused?Sapphire looked down beside her, and there it was… the terribilis. Sapphire was frightened. She slowly put her drink bottle down. This was a moment to capture. Even if she's risking her life. She didn't know what to do if she was face to face with a poisonous frog she thought she should stay low, and stay quiet. But she didn't know if it was going to work.
 Solution

She slowly brought her camera to her eye. *Slow and steady* she thought. CLICK! She took the photo. The frog looked her in the eye and jumped towards her. He must be shy.Sapphire fell to the ground. Her camera fell out of her hand. “NO!” She hooted. She cautiously crawled towards her camera.Swipe! She got it before the frog reached.*How can a beautiful frog be so dangerous!?!?* She thought to herself.Swoosh! The frog was at her feet. Sapphire started sprinting like she never had before! She was breathing faster than a newborn baby. “ LEAP!” She thrusted herself over the thick river. Criss cross through the trees. She halted. Then turned around. The frog would not make the jump. She knew. Lucky for her...she was right. She jogged back to the small village. Then she took a look at her picture. “Perfect” she whispered.

Do you know any more facts about frogs or toads? If you do comment what you know. If you dont know anything comment something you learnt or liked. I would really appreciate it if you gave me some feedback! Thanks for reading

Recycle!

Hey viewers!
Welcome back to me blog. Today and Monday me and Sadie (which was my partner) made TWO Recycle DLO's (Digital learning object). One was a poster and the other a animation. On the animation I did more of the work because in the morning Sadie does gardening. But she helped with the poster. Madds was also in our group but she had a horrid head ache so she couldn't help.Anyway.... . For our poster we did 9 facts. 9 Facts to help save our school..or if you go to a different school..your school! In our animations, someone throws some rubbish on the ground and stomps on it. But then a little boy comes up and tells the big person to stop littering. It works and in the end everyone is happy! This was really fun and I hope you enjoy!!!

Do you know any other facts about littering or where to put your rubbish? If you do comment! I also love feedback good or bad. This was so fun and hope you learnt something new! See you next blog post.

Pigeon Disguise

Hi again everybody!
Sorry I haven't posted since the 26th of August. I was not at school because I had a funny tummy. I'm not the best swimmer so I got heaps of chlorine in my mouth.Anyway.... In this post I will be showing you what I did for reading this week! If you  wanted to do some reading you have to pick a create task to do out of 9 create tasks. I picked the book "Dont let the pigeon drive the bus!" and the create task I picked was " Create a disguise for the pigeon so he can drive the bus!" I chose to do this on paper because for me it would be easier. This was a really fun activity and I hope you like my drawing! ENJOY!!!!!

Have you ever read "Dont let the pigeon drive the bus!"? If you have comment what you favourite part of the story was. My favourite part is when he says "LETS PLAY DRIVE THE BUS! I will go first 😎" I hope you liked this post. Make sure you come back to my blog!

Monster Pick-A-Path

Hi readers,For about 4 or 5 weeks (i think ) we have been working on a monster description, problem and pick a path story! This was definitely one of my favourite writing tasks this year.To get to blogging, we had to:

  • Pick a setting to describe..then describe it! With the 5 senses (See,Smell,Hear,Touch and emotions.
  • Pick two other people to be in you group (in my case, Skyla and Ella)
  • Put you descriptive plans together
  • Make 5 paragraphs using your plan. The paragraphs will be your 5 senses you did in your plan.
  • After you have completed ALL you paragraphs, introduce your monsters that you created. I created Splanda in week 3? Then we had to put in all our monsters.
  • Once you put all your monsters in (in the monster paragraphs there should be the 5 senses) come up with 3 problems.
  • Once you have your 3 problems create seperate docs of YOUR problem in that doc. (You had to come up with your own problem)
  • Once all the problems have been finished, put EVERYTHING (except your plan) onto  Google Slides.
  • Blog it!
I am up to....BLOGGING IT! Once again this was really fun and I hope you love this!
ENJOY!
P.S. If you checked out Skylas Blog or Ellas Blog and they did not have my story, its because I was not at school.

Where did you end up? Comment which path you took and did you go back and check out the other stories? Please give me some feedback on this I would really appreciate it!

A piece of Paradise

Hello Viewers,
This week for reading, WALT:Use clues from the text to find the hidden message (inference!
We got to choose from 6 books, Rata and the Tree, A piece of Paradise,Awarua and the Taniwha of Porirua,Fishing for Octopus,The story of Ganesha and Tautorus  Bird Snare.I choose: A piece of Paradise. If you have not read this, what happens is:
The Sun god and the Rain god both say that they do not need each other to grow crops. But the sun Gods crops burn and the Rain god causes a flood which rots the crops. So in the end both of the gods need each other to plant crops. We had to come up with what we thought the moral of the story is. A moral is a lesson. I think the moral of the story is you cannot do everything your own, sometimes you need other people to help you.You need to work together. This was really fun to do and this is the longest animation I have ever made.
P.S If you cant read the slides you may have to go back. I could not add more slides because it was lagging. ENJOY!

Have you ever planted any crops? If you have comment what you planted and if it turned out well. Please give me some feedback on what I could do next time. I love hearing feedback! Thanks for reading!

Whats the matter?

Hello readers,
Today and Monday I made my create task. I had to make a comic or animation on what I think would happen next in the story I read which was "Whats The Matter? This story is about a boy who got a test model of a box.A box that made whatever you say appear. But since it was a test model you could only ask for something with 3 words.E.g.: Vanilla(1 word) Ice (2 word) cream (3 word). If you want the thing you ordered to disappear you had to say Cancel. But he starts saying things..with DOUBLE MEANINGS and things get messy….literally.This was really fun to predict and the ending was SO funny! This was my prediction:I think that the parents will come into Dans room and ground him.I also think that they will make him clean his room with his savings!I hope you enjoy this and agree with my prediction. If you dont thats fine :) !ENJOY!WALT:Use prior knowledge and context to predict what will happen next!

Do you have any other predictions? If you do comment what your prediction is.I would also really like some feedback please!I really would like some.I hope you enjoyed this post!

My Spagen!

Hello viewers,
Last week our Writing teacher read us " Where The Wild Things Are". It was very interesting. After we read the book we had to come up with an animal with 4 different animals. You could pick ANY animal you wanted.I picked a Sloth Head, Panda Body *Which looks like a penguin body :(*  Pig arms and chicken feet. HER name is Splanda and she is a Spagen. The fist thing we had to do was plan. Plan what out monster would act like and look like. Then we had to make a Character Description on our animal. After we did our description, we had to go on a Google Drawing and make out animals out of pictures or we can trace out animals. After out Google Drawing we had to DRAW our animal on A3 paper. Then we had to colour and cut it out. Then Mrs Lee put our animals on the wall (Not all of them..YET!) and she is going to send us  a picture of out animals. (Which has not been done....YET!). I hope you enjoy and like my monster.
WALT:Write a problem in a narrative.WALT:Write the solution in a narrative!

This is Splanda :)
Splanda
Splanda  is a 17 year old Spagen who lives in a jungle called Spandandia.
Splanda was a result
from scientists. They wanted to create an animal  no one has ever seen or heard of.
A Spagen. She has the head of a sloth, the body of a panda, pig arms and chicken legs.
After Splanda was made scientists became mad and started making heaps of Spagens!
But the Spagens didn't like their home. They lived in a LAB with scientists everywhere.
So one night the Spagens ran away to a jungle. They came up with a name...Spandandia.
Now all the Spagens are safe.
Splanda has a very normal personality. She gets her laziness from the sloth.
Her shyness and cuteness from the panda. She is cautious from the pig and
weird feet from the chicken.
Also long nails...from the chicken!
Splanda is funny and a little scary because her pig teeth.Shes also quite chubby!
Since Splanda has pig arms it is hard for her to reach things from a simple distance away.
She eats bamboo, seeds, berries and veggies. Also fruit. She sleep in trees, mud and hay...
if she can find some.
She can run fast but slower than the normal human speed because her chubbiness.
She loves to roll around in mud and sleep all day . Shes quite cute when she sneezes.
She loves food and the words “Just relax Splanda”

Do you have any ideas of who Splandas friends could be.If you can MAKE UP an animal and tell me his/her traits.I think Splanda would love new friends.Thank you guys so much for checking out my blog. When I get the photo of Splanda I will add it onto this blog post. Promise.

Today and yesterday, my maths teacher Mrs Lee, challenge some of her maths groups to do  a investigation on insects. But not with actual insects instead with numbers. What we had to do was:
Go on the site and figure out the insect investigation challenge. Once we figured out multi-pule ways to get the number 54 using a strategy. Then once we figured it out we made a slide show on it. But using more then one combination. This took me two days to get everything perfect. Here it is.Hope you learn some new maths.
P.S. I had to re-post this. This is NOT my most recent post.
Sorry

My new strategy!

WALT:Solve Multiplication
WALT:Change the order of numbers to make the Multiplication easier!

Hello viewers,
Today and yesterday,I created a DLO (Digital Learning Object) on my new strategy. My new strategy is changing the order of numbers to make the multiplication easier. As you saw from the WALT.In my opinion this is a easy strategy to learn and will make maths a lot easier.I hope you enjoy and learn something new that YOU can do in maths.
ENJOY!!

Can you think of any other equations that you can switch around? If you can comment what equations you can switch around and if you learnt some new x tables!I HOPE you learnt something new and had fun reading my DLO. If you have any  questions comment what and I will help. (Make sure it's related to this!)I hope you enjoyed!

NZ Sea Lions

Hello readers,
Today I have created my create task.If you have been checking out my blog you should know what a create task is.If you don't that means out haven't been checking out my blog...WHAT ARE YOU DOING!Im kidding.A create task is a challenge my teachers set where we have to make a DLO (Digital Learning Object) to draw awareness to a animal. This week I chose NZ sea lions. This is sad that there are dangers to animals.SO that's why I want you to read my work and try and do something about these helpless animals. If you can't that's okay but please help them.ENJOY!!!

Do you know anything else about NZ sea lions? If you do comment what and how you found this out.I hope you learnt something interesting and new.If you could it would be amazing if you could write a letter or make a sign for any animal that is endangered or you want to help.

Turtles and Tortoises

Hello readers,
Last week I worked on my new information report for you guys.It is about turtles and tortoises.I tried  really hard to make this perfect.I think i did a really good job on this and some of these paragraphs are AMAZING!This has been one of my best info reports yet.(Even though I have only done 2).I hope you like this and learn something interesting about Turtles and Tortoises.Enjoy

Turtles and tortoises. You probably know barely anything about them.Except that they have a hard shell and move very slowly. You may know more but in this information report you will learn what they eat, their dangers, their predators, what they look like and where they live.So read on.

Ever wondered what turtles and tortoises eat?Sea turtles love eating jellyfish and sea snails. As for tortoises, they like eating plants when they're older and meat when they're younger. They also like eating bananas.Bet you never knew that! You may think they eat completely different foods, but some foods they both eat.Which is worms...and gross algae which is that gooey green moss that floats in swamps and fish tanks.Sea turtles obviously  live the sea which means they eat thing found in the ocean such as, crabs, shrimp, lobster, sea urchins  and fish.
As for the tortoises live on land which means they eat kale, dandelions and veggies.

Want to know where turtles and tortoises live?Tortoises live in hot places like Africa,Australia,Europe,North america and Asia.Sea turtles live in the ocean. They live in the Pacific ocean, the Atlantic ocean and the Indian ocean. But they do move around a lot.

You may not think that turtles and tortoises have many dangers but they do!As you know there’s millions of pieces of rubbish in the ocean and Sea turtles think they're jellyfish. In many parts of Asia, turtle hatch lings are eaten!People are fishing up Sea turtles and suffocating them.

Guess what...turtles and tortoises scute(their shell) is made out of bone! Turtles and tortoises have very scaly skin, which proves they are reptiles.Their bone scute has a beautiful pattern which helps them camouflage. They have long clear nails and have colour vision as well. They have big mouths which is good for catching food and eating, big meals. They have colossal flippers that look like a paddling stick! They have very small legs that look so cute. When they stick their head out you can see their wrinkly neck. They also have no teeth.

So know that you have read this information report, you know what turtles and tortoises eat, their dangers, their predators, where they live and what they look like.Turtles and tortoises are very interesting reptiles.
Thank you for reading my work

Have you ever seen a Turtle or tortoise? If you have comment where, when and what it looked like. There are different types of Turtles. It could of been the Yangtze giant soft shell turtle, which is the rarest turtle in the world. But if you haven't seen a turtle, comment what you would do if you saw one.
